FL-9 Wind Tunnel Technical Progress: High Reynolds Number Intake Test

FL-9 wind tunnel completed the commissioning of the high Reynolds number intake test system in August 2019.

This intake test system is the first system in China to simulate high Reynolds number and it can control mass flow continuously to a high volume. During the test, the nacelle intake model can be mounted normally or reversely to simulate downwind and crosswind conditions, to test ground effects or to get high angle of attack results.

The main features of this system are as follows:

Pressure: 0.4Mpa;

Max mass flow:75kg/s;

Max outlet diameter of the nacelle intake:0.340m;

Reynolds number of internal flow: 18×106 (outlet diameter=0.340m and mass flow =75kg/s);

Sideslip angle: from 0°to 360°

Ground effect simulation: floor can be adjusted from 0.2m below the wind tunnel centerline to 0.8m above the wind tunnel centerline.
